Patti Labelle slams Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson and says that the music industry is racist.Labelle explained that Spears and Simpson have absolutely no talent:
“I think those girls are not going to be here very long. They have no talent. They are not like the Gladys Knights and the Dionne Warwicks.”
Patti also said that the biggest obstacles she’s had to face in her career has been watching Celine Dion soar up the charts with a song she recorded first.
She added that is because she is black she did not make it with the single “If You Asked Me To.”
Dion’s 1992 remake soared to number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while LaBelle’s version three years earlier peaked at number 79.LaBelle said:
Dion had the sales “because she’s a white girl” and that people pay more respect to white artists who sing well than black women.
